One of the oldest and largest housing associations in London. The Peabody Group owns and manages more than 55,000 homes across London and the South East, housing over 111,000 residents. Hatch and Peabody are working together to support local residents bring new and exciting opportunities to the community around 55 East. Hatch has also received a grant from the Peabody Community Foundation to support local budding entrepreneurs into business. Apply for a course here.
Hatch is the organisation supporting 55 East with the aspiration of enabling it to becoming a community-enabled and run organisation in its own right over the coming years. In the meantime, Hatch run its award-winning enterprise programmes (hatchenterprise.org/our-programmes) in the space and to help local entrepreneurs to make 55 East their “home away from home” for their business or social enterprise.
55 East (via Hatch Enterprise) and Southwark Council are working on supporting the local community to offer open access enterprise courses and to run a variety of enterprise events, seminars and programmes for residents in the area. Southwark Council supports 55 East under its High Street Challenge programme.
The partnership supports the regeneration of the Elephant & Castle regeneration and is working to maximise the benefits of regeneration for local people. The partnership puts together The Elephant Magazine which celebrates the history and diversity of the area, and shines a spotlight on local businesses. The partnership website describes all of the projects planned across the area and has an events page linked to the councils website to promote all of the latest happenings.
